About the atelier
Heritage Tailoring, Built for the Tropics
One Tailor is led by James Wong, a third-generation tailor carrying forward a family bespoke house rooted in PJ Old Town since 1980. Alongside senior cutter Ahmad bin Osman, the atelier has built a reputation for climate-engineered craftsmanship and personal service in Petaling Jaya.
Every garment that leaves our atelier is crafted entirely on-site, never outsourced. We believe in the value of personal attention, honest advice, and the transformative power of clothing that truly fits.

Common Questions
What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure tailoring?
Bespoke means we draft a brand new paper pattern from your individual measurements, posture, and shoulder slope, then build the garment from scratch with multiple basted fittings. Made-to-measure simply tweaks an existing block pattern. At One Tailor, every commission in our PJ atelier is fully bespoke and hand-cut by Ahmad, our senior cutter.
How long does a bespoke suit take to complete?
Plan on 6 to 10 weeks from first consultation to delivery. The timeline includes pattern drafting, sourcing cloth from our European mill partners, two basted fittings, and a final try-on. For grooms in Petaling Jaya we recommend starting at least three months before the wedding date so we can work without rushing the cloth.
What happens at the first consultation?
Your first visit is a complimentary 30-minute conversation in our PJ Old Town shop. We talk through your daily routine, your existing wardrobe, the climate challenges you face commuting around Petaling Jaya, and the cloth that fits your lifestyle. We will take a few preliminary measurements and walk you through bunches from Vitale Barberis Canonico and Holland & Sherry, with no pressure to commission.
How long do alterations usually take?
Standard alterations are ready in about 7 to 14 days, depending on the complexity of the work and current shop volume. If you have a wedding, a corporate event, or a flight from Subang the same week, just let us know at drop-off and Sarah will see what our cutters can prioritise.
Do you dress grooms and full wedding parties?
Yes, weddings are a large part of what we do for Petaling Jaya families. We commission grooms, fathers, and groomsmen together so the cloth, lining, and accessories all read as one party. To do the work properly we recommend booking four to six months in advance, especially in peak wedding season.
